Facebook post information on Project Spartan then takes it off; We say staged

20110930-071300.jpg

Information on Facebook’s new HTML mobile Web interface was posted online. Who would leak such information? Facebook was the person behind its own leak. It posted the info to its own developer webpage. We are going to go ahead and say that this was staged to build more hype for the project. It’s a clear outline of Project Spartan. The only thing missing was a timeline. I mean the post even had screenshots of Web app. it has already been removed by Facebook but TechCrunch  pictures as  a  PDF file. Thank you guys

Thought Questions: How do you explain to people what you do?

20110929-083321.jpg

thoughtquestions.com question of the day is always a fun treadmill for the brain in the morning. If I could only use one word to describe to people what I do? Humm…. That is something that I find difficult to answer. I do more, a lot more than one thing. I’d say in one word; Resolver.

Samsung vs. Apple: In Pictures

Samsung is known for many things and it seems that copying the Apple devices may become one of those things. TUAW put together a series of pictures together that show the similarities but in retrospect most products look ver similar.

The thing that has Samsung in trouble is their close relationship to Apple. They are the same company that makes the chips and the screen. That would mean they have access to the product that most others would not have. Therefore if they come out with a similar product it is very suspect.

Microsoft plays Goodfella says to Android OEM, Fu*k You Pay me!

If you have seen the movie Goodfellas then the title this post resonated with you right away. That is pretty much what Google feels is happening. Google issued an irate response to Microsoft’s cross-licensing agreement with Samsung. The deal calls for Samsung to pay royalties to Microsoft for each Android smartphone sold. Microsoft has almost the same agreements with ViewSonic, HTC and Acer. HTC and Samsung were responsible for more than half of all Android phones sold in 2011 in the United States. Analysts estimate Android pulls in a most 5 times the revenue that Windows Phone does for Microsoft.

Google said “This is the same tactic we’ve seen time and again from Microsoft. Failing to succeed in the smartphone market, they are resorting to legal measures to extort profit from others’ achievements and hinder the pace of innovation. We remain focused on building new technology and supporting Android partners.”

Microsoft’s general counsel Brad Smith and deputy general counsel Horacio Gutierrez wrote in the post that “We recognize that some businesses and commentators – Google chief among them – have complained about the potential impact of patents on Android and software innovation; To them, we say this: look at today’s announcement. If industry leaders such as Samsung and HTC can enter into these agreements, doesn’t this provide a clear path forward?” In other words if you use Android you will be paying Microsoft protection money.

Say hello to the New Amazon line of Kindles: Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G and Kindle Fire

Today Amazon jumped feet first into the tablet ring while not forgetting to tag in it’s friends the Kindle. There were four Kindles announced today. The all-new Kindle for only $79, two new touch Kindles – Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G – for $99 and $149, and a new class of Kindle – Kindle Fire – a beautiful full color Kindle for movies, TV shows, music, books, magazines, apps, games, web browsing and more, for only $199.  You will be able to be a Amazon Prime member which includes unlimited, instant streaming of over 10,000 popular movies and TV shows and Free Two-Day Shipping on millions of items. Now the value would be worth it if it were not only for one month. Amazon Kindle Fire is identical to the PlayBook in looks.

The one everyone was waiting for did not disappoint. The Kindle Fire looks just like RIM PlayBook but with an Amazon custom UI. There are no signs of Android anywhere on the device. You have the Amazon AppStore no Google Marketplace. You also get free Cloud Storage for your music and movies. Gorilla Glass is on the LCD.

The Amazon Fire does however have a camera and microphone. The backing of all that Amazon content helps a lot as well. Amazon’s customized Android OS looks to be just perfect for this tablet. You can watch movies, read books, play music, browse the web and spend money on Amazon services.  $199 for a great tablet should take a bite out of the tablet let market. Combine that with the The new Kindle & Kindle touch for $79 and $99 and you can see why Amazon is in the best position to take on Apple. It’s all about price point.

I have two questions that I wonder about; 1st will the Prime service be lifetime  or just for the first year. 2nd lets see how long it will take hackers to get this device Rooted to run other flavors of Android. I’m talking to you XDA Developers. Pre-orders start today, shipping on November 21st.
