Hackstore: Is it Cydia for the Mac?
When you hear the Hackstore; the first thing that comes to mind i s well…Hacks. That however is not the case with this off the grid store. HackStore is one a centralized place for third-party developers of OS X applications to showcase applications that Apple will not approve. This of it as Cydia but for software. Cydia is the alternative to app store on your jailbroken iDevice. Apple may not approve of jailbreaking or the Cydia store but that has not stopped them from blatantly stealing ideas from its developers. The most recent example is Wifi Sync for the iPhone. It was such a good idea that Apple incorporated it into iOS 5. They even kept the same logo that the developer came up with.
The point is that alternative app stores are where developers can get their apps out into the world. Its a way around the wall garden that Apple has setup. Also known as Apple’s approval process. The developers of Hackstore say that piracy will not be tolerated in their app store. Although just like Cydia, there are a lot of “crack” repos. If you want to give the Hackstore a try. You can Download it for the Mac OS X.

Jailbreak iPhone 4S & iPad 2 with GreenPois0n Absinthe v0.2
GreenPois0n Downloads
For Apple A5 devices on 5.0.1 » GreenPois0n Absinthe
How To Use GreenPois0n: The Quick Guide
- Remember: greenpois0n is not an unlock, it is a jailbreak! (If you are unsure of the difference, stop reading now & become friends with a revolutionary new website called Google.)
- Download & extract greenpois0n from the .zip file, then launch greenpois0n.
- Attach your iPhone, iPad or iPod to your computer & click ‘Jailbreak’.
- Greenpois0n will automatically commence its DFU guide. If you know how to put your device into ‘DFU Mode,’ you can do this at your leisure; when done, greenpois0n will acknowledge a successful DFU operation.
- Press ‘Jailbreak’ again (if necessary) and let greenpois0n do its thing! You will see wonderful lines of text scroll on your device’s screen to assure you that something is happening.
- After a few magical seconds, greenpois0n will display a ‘Complete’ message. At this point, the greenpois0n injection is complete – just wait for your device to reboot automatically.
- Once your device has finished rebooting, double-check that you have an active internet connection, then locate & press the ‘Loader’ icon on your device. This action will download the Cydia app and install it for you.
- When Cydia has been installed successfully, your device needs to (& will automatically) reboot one final time.
- You’re done! Enjoy

Swype: The best 3rd party keyboard is now on jailbroken iDevices but skip it for now
Swype is one of the best keyboards out in any OS. It has ling been a staple in the Android world where choice is more than a word it’s a way of life. The iOS does not let you install anything onto of the standard keys. As always, where Apple fails to deliver the jailbreak community does. The typing system was ported to the iDevices as a tweak for the iOS keyboard on the alternative AppStore Cydia. The creators of Swype have stated that they have a version for iOS devices ready to release but can not since Apple does not let developers submit apps that enhance system functions like the default keyboard.
So don’t expect to see an official Swype for iOS anytime soon. One wonders why they would nit just release it on Cydia themselves. As much as I love Swype I have to say you must skip this tweak. This tweak is full of bugs and does not use Swype’s technology, just Swype’s name. The CEO of Swype Mike McSherry said the port that’s on Cydia is a “hack”. I also agree. I love hacks and jailbreaks but this one does not work well at all. I would say hold out for version 2. The port is very buggy and doesn’t come with Swype’s familiar “blue line” for the keyboard.
Jailbreakme 3.0 is released
iPad 2 owners have waited a long time but that wait is now over. Comex has released the official jailbreakme hack. It is unknown if he was rushed by the leak that occurred earlier. It could be but iPad 2 owners are happy for whatever happened to make Comex release it after almost a year.
The jailbreak could not be easier to do.
1. Go to jailbreakme.com
2. Click the word free
3. Cydia will install
4. Click Cydia and have fun
iOS 5 jailbroken: That was fast

iOS 5 just came out yesterday and only to developers but that did not stop super jailbreak MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev team from successfully jailbraking it. Now don’t get your hopes up. If you remember iPad 2 was jailbroken in 24 hours by Comex too. Yet to this day we still do not have a public jailbreak.
MuscleNerd revealed the news on Twitter:
iOS5 jailbroken on ipt4g: via limera1n + tethered boot..not too many surprises
![]()
yep Cydia works fine too from quick testing (I installed SSH)
over-the-air delta updates of iOS should be fine for JBers (even if Apple didn’t let you disable them, the JB itself can)
The jailbreak is tethered jailbreak which means that you need to connect your iOS device to the computer on every reboot. This is not a good thing seeing as the iOS 5 is all about cutting the cord. I wonder which will come out first a working iOS 5 jailbreak for iPhones or a iPad 2 jailbreak .
Cydia running on iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5
As Lima sets to take on jailbreak installer Cydia the words “There can only be one” comes to mind
I have had people asking me all day is there room from more than one installer program for the iOS. The answer is yes and much needed at this point. I like many were very disappointed when Rock was brought by Cydia. There were features that were implemented in Rock that have to this day yet to show up in cydia. Just think how help it would have been to have somewhere else to do the days when cydia was down due to cloud issues.
At one point there were three options to choose from; Rock, Cydia and Icy. The last one in seemed to lack polish of the others but nevertheless worked. Infini Dev Team has taken over support of Icy from Ripdev. The have even been able to get it to work on the iPad with firmware iOS 4.3.2.
That was just practice for the team as they are also about to release Lima. A installer that works over the Safari browser. A first of its kind. The benefits of this method are no need to install an installer to install hacks. All you would have to do is open safari, go to the website and that would be your package installer. This is a great concept that I see working very well.
Verizon iPhone can be Jailbroken with Greenpo1son
Not even out yet but some of those that were lucky enough to get their Verizon iPhone have found that it can be jailbroken. A picture is worth a 1000 words and by this picture it seems clear that it does in fact work. iPhone is clearly seen running Cydia and it clearly says “Verizon 3G” in the status bar.
The iOS 4.2.6 version the iPhone is running was jailbroken through Greenpois0n, and a new version of the jailbreak tool should be out soon. So if you’ve switched to a Verizon iPhone from AT&T and worried about your jailbreak apps then you should be fine. That is a great thing people!
