How to install Apps that require you to have 5.1 without updating your iOS to 5.1
Apps that require iOS 5.1 tend to be Apple’s way of fighting the Jailbreak community. It’s not like the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S are not compatible with the new updated apps. If only there was a way around this limitation. Glad you asked. There is a way around it and it is pretty simple. The work around works for iPhoto, iMovie and so far all apps that have asked me to update to 5.1 Please note this method only works on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
The steps to install 5.1 apps on your 5.0.1 device is as follows:
- Close AppStore if you have it opened. Don’t forget to check the multitask bar as well for it.
- Start up iFile (It’s a jailbreak app in Cydia)
- Once in iFile go to /System/Library/CoreServices
- Click SystemVersion.plist file
- Click Property List Viewer
- Click ProductVersion
- Change 5.0.1 to 5.1
- Click back and and then click Done
- Respring your iOS device
- Go to App Store and install your desired app.
- After it is successfully installed put ProductVersion back to iOS 5.0.1
- Click Cydia
- Search for iPhoto501Fix and install it
- Respring your device
- Enjoy

iPad 3 already on the way to stores?
WeiPhone seems to think that Foxconn is sending iPad 3′s to the U.S. Funny thing is that the iPad 3 has not even been announced to the world yet. The rumors are flying all over the place but when is a rumor about an Apple product not.

The translation of the document says: “Our company started undertake a load of top-secured cargo. The owner has extreme requirements for the security. In order to prevent the cargo from being dragged on the airport ramp for too long, as well as shortening the time the cargo stay on the airport ramp, we hereby require XXXX to schedule all the XXX cargo planes from Feb. 26 to Mar. 9. to XXX slot.”
If the document is to be believed then shipments should hit stores by March 9th. The wonderful blog site 9 to 5 Mac said that Apple would take pre-orders of the iPad 3 this year and the entire iPad 2 line would be discontinued. If the rumors are true, iPad 3 will have Retina display, a Quad Core processor, a real cameras, same battery life and 4G.
iPad 3: Seems to be real and coming real soon
There are images of the iPad 3′s new case design. These are always are early clues to how the new designs will look. Although they are not perfect; they are close enough to get an idea of what is to come. Apple’s next tablet should be released just next month. The iPad 3 should have Retina Display, an 8-megapixel camera, 4G LTE and a larger battery but the same battery life. Word is that Apple will unveil the iPad 3 at a press conference on March 7th.

It is looking very good for the world of Siri. I can not wait to see what comes out next for it.
Meet the iOS 5 semi-tethered jailbreak
If your like me you are keeping far away from iOS 5 if you can help it. Very far away. The reason is that it can not be jailbroken. Hold on, that is not the whole truth. There is a jailbreak for the iOS 5 but it’s tethered.
A tethered jailbreak means you have to plug your iPhone in to a computer every time you reboot your device. If this happens while your on the road, you’re pretty much without a phone for the rest of the trip. If the iPhone is your only means of communication or your iPad is the only means you have to keep the kids from driving you crazy on a trip; then tethered is not for you.
Today you’ll be glad to know that there is now a semi-tethered jailbreak. A semi-tethered jailbreak is not a 100% untethered but not 100% tethered. It’s a happy balance between the two. If your iDevice reboots while out in world it will still be usable, somewhat.
The trade off for this jailbreak is the limited functionality. So here is what you can and can’t do:
Is there a Apple 4S Siri Security flaw?
Siri works and works very well. Consider this service is still in bata form. There are however some issues with functionality. The service was down over the weekend due to too much stress on the network. At least that is the thinking of the masses since Apple has not released a official statement about the matter.
This new issue that some are calling a security flaw is over hyped as much as antenna gate was. While the phone is locked with or without a pass code Siri will function. This is very helpful but can lead to some issues. Such as a person saying call come or where do I live. Pretty much everything Siri can do will work even if your phone is locked. With the iPhone 4S setting a pass code is not enough.
I can’t really call this a Siri security problem but I do recommend following the steps below to cover yourself. I am sure Apple has it working by default for ease of use but not everyone will use this feature for good. You can disable Siri from working when the iPhone is locked by doing the following.
That is it Siri will no longer work when your phone is locked.
